My Background
My name is Dona Tonka and I studied architecture. I have since turned back to my first love, painting and fully embrace it. To make official my love for botanical art, I have graduated Diploma in Botanical Illustration with the Royal Botanical Garden of Endinburgh.

Most of the botanical art I create is watercolor, but I also tackle other kind of compositions and subjects, in different mediums like oil, acrylics, gouache, ink or graphite. I choose the medium according to the theme of the artwork and the message or emotion I wish to express through it.

I am fascinated by nature, plants, how biology translates into shape, structure, geometry texture and color. I love insects, old and new buildings and cities, natural landscapes and cityscapes, I am fascinated by light, color and textures.
